    Oh, I just CAN NOT stop...
    Sometime after I wrote A New Morning, [info]aki_hoshi said, "Sometime you should write Drake's POV."

    I don't know WHAT made her WANT it (she may be addled from Drake-lust; then again, aren't we all?), but I couldn't get the idea out of my head. So... about five hours and 8,700 words later, we have A New Morning Remix. So if you liked the first one, you might possibly enjoy this one. Although, being the remix, it's the same story. Just in Drake's head. With, you know, his thoughts. Such as they are.

    I'm not entirely certain, but I think I may have hit a new level of self-indulgence. Next I will be writing DVD-commentary-style author's notes and wearing a beret. Hopefully the three feet of snow here will crush me before that eventuality.

    Also, I apologize to several of you (most notably [info]bryoneybrynn) in advance, but the radio show tomorrow night? [info]aki_hoshi is gonna co-host and we're gonna squee about Drake. MMmhmmm. It's gonna be AWESOME.

    LALALALA I LOVE THIS DAY!
    I think I'm done with the happy meme, but thinking of eight things that made me happy (even though I think the original meme said nothing about eight things and that was just something a lot of us did for funsies) each day is probably a good exercise in positive thinking.

    And I KNOW what made me happy today:

    1. FUCKINGSQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Okay, remember how I had so many problems with [info]hp_yule_balls and I couldn't write what I wanted to write and trying to settle for second best made me crazy and I ultimately hate and loathe and despise what I finally ended up writing? Remember that? Well, it's alllllllllllllllllll worth it. Because I got my gift tonight and it is PERFECT. Seven Minutes In Hell. The author managed to squeeze a shitload of things that I adore into a wonderfully funny fic that skirts the edge of crack so closely that it never becomes absurd but always remains delightful. It's Harry/Draco seventh year with leather trousers, eyeliner, Truth or Dare, and a fucking HAWT blowjob. Go. Read. Adore.

    2. Bought The Office trivia game. Spanked my husband two games out of two. And he thought he would win... HA.

    3. [info]maja_li gave me an emergency beta with a smile. I love my betas all so much. :D

    4. LUCINDA IS PROOOOOOOBABLY GONNA COME TO AZKATRAZ! *bounces* We've been planning our hug for MONTHS.

    5. FINISHED CHRISTMAS SHOPPING! Yay! All that's left is wrapping. We're not going to put the presents under the tree until after Wavers goes to bed on Christmas Eve, though. 1) We want her to think that Santa came, and 2) She would rip the paper before Christmas. Totally.

    6. Even though we only managed to watch a half hour or so, Raven ([info]aki_hoshi) and I put on Drake and Josh Go Hollywood and squeed at each other over IM. There was a lot of simultaneous posts of things like "We'll have SMEX" whenever Drake or Josh said something like, "What will we do now?" Things of that nature. And a lot of capslock abuse as usual. Also, I may have set a record for use of "I KNOW." We are fourteen years old and we LOVE IT.

    7. Bali's Best Coffee Candy. OM NOM NOM.

    8. That Waverly really loves both "I Know" and "Makes Me Happy," and asks for me to play them by name. As in "Make Happy song! Make Happy song!" or "I Know song!" She also is a huge fan of Beyonce's "Single Ladies," which she refers to as "Dinglet song." Which means "put a ring on it." lol... Her favorite song, however, is "Stronger" by Kanye West which she refers to as "monkey song" and no one knows why... Crazy baby...

    9. I thought of one more! It's from late last night, so I nearly forgot... Anyway, my new friend [info]ringohavabanana (whose first name I don't know yet! *weep*) posted an AWESOME Drake video last night. In case you haven't seen it, Drake on TRL. I'm linking you to his LJ because the video is being testy with me. If you're a Drake fan from way back, you've probably seen it, but, you know. Shiny new crush. Everything's new to me!

    Does anyone else sometimes have issues with YouTube vids and Mozilla? I get this thing sometimes where it'll only play the first 2 seconds and then freeze and then I can't get to the end. *kicks both*

    P.S. Warning to new friends about the name thing: I like to refer to people by name, not LJ user name. I hope that it's a habit that makes me seem folksy and not stalkerish. I mean, really, it doesn't need to be your REAL first name. Just *a* name. Referring to people as "meatfan187" in my head makes me sad. Also, why meat? WHO KNOWS. It's late and I'm loopy.

    2. [info]maevemist rocked my world by doing an emergency beta for me! And being a sweetpea (as usual) in the process.

    3. Raven, Raven, Raven... God, you guys. We're like two drug addicts who should NOT being hanging out because we just enable each other... She sent me this picture today, and oh.... Fuck... Just... She says I can't show you yet, though. Stalk [info]aki_hoshi, though. She's gonna post it on Monday...

    4. Getting a bunch of hilarious comments from [info]pirateninjax right in a row, offering not only commentary on what she'd just read, but also what was currently on the Food Network. Oh, Courtney... You are the biz-omb.

    5. Re-reading most of [info]croatoan6000's amazing fic, The Secret Diary of Draco Malfoy: Aristocrat, Ne'er do Well, Rampant Homosexual. That is one of the best things ever... [info]lotus_lizzy? You read that one? Probably, but if not, get on it. You'll adore it. I mean, so would the rest of you, but Lizzers is my kindred fic spirit.

    6. My RPS fic. Yeah, I know *I* wrote it, but we ALL know that I'm my own biggest fan. I freakin' love it. I want to write MORE AND MORE AND MORE. It's addictive. And there's something so delicious about breaking my own vow and being bad... Ooooh! Slytherin!

    7. Baked penne with asparagus for dinner. Why does food always make my happy list? Fatty...

    8. Mildly incoherent drunken comments from [info]dysonrules. That made me smile. :D

    Yo.
    Just a teensy update to remind everyone that even though I'm going nuts with the Drake/Josh fangirling, I'm still writing a Harry Potter fic EVERY SINGLE DAY this month. So if you're thinking, "Woman, where is my HP? I am not here to cater to your horny ass and its freakish whims," go on over to [info]ficbycam and get your HP fix. Today's fic is mad late because I was busy (kinda) all day, but this one's been brewing for a long time. And it's Runway!verse, set after the final chapter.     Happy Stuff!
    Things that made me happy today:

    1. Bryoney liked her gift!fic! Which is awesome because I didn't know what to write for some reason... Sometimes I am silly.

    2. Intense Drake squee with Raven. It was hard-core. There was much capslock abuse and exclamation point crime.

    3. Finding out that Josh Peck totes has a ghetto pass. Dude, he's like an honorary member of the Wu Tang Clan... I spent like all evening watching Josh interviews. But I'm not allowed to share any of them for secret reasons.

    4. Totally overhauling my MySpace page.

    5. Talking to Lizzers and Bri about stuff and junk and just generally having fun.

    6. Turkey-chickpea burgers for dinner! Om nom nom!

    7. Going out shopping ALL afternoon with the Wavemaster. We went to a pet store (for funsies) and WE SAW A POMERANIAN PUPPY!!! I wanted him SO BADLY. Because that's Scorpius's dog. But he was $450. So... yeah. No puppy for me. We also looked at bunnies and sugar gliders and hedgehogs and a chinchilla! Fun.

    8. Having just a general fuck-around day. I did nothing I was supposed to do. I slept until noon, got online and bullshitted until about 3, went shopping until 6, made and ate dinner, fucked around online again with the galpals, did a teense of work and then spent the rest of my "work time" on my MySpace page, and now I'm just bullshitting online again. Haven't responded to comments, haven't written anything, haven't done ANYTHING productive. And fuck me if it doesn't feel awesome.

    I was going to save this for my happy list, but FUCK ME it is too good to not share right now.

    The tag has never been truer. And I know this is like a month old because I don't watch TV or come in contact with any media outlets where I could find Drake Bell videos.     So [info]mugglegato asked for recs and then a couple people seconded, and I figured I'd make a post so everyone can see. :D I only have three for you, because I'm so freakin' picky. But I tell you where to find more... :D

    Okay, so [info]aki_hoshi made a post where she simultaneously recced my Drake/Josh fic and then said she would love some cheer-up drabbles. So of course, I said, "I will write a Drake/Josh cheer-up drabble for Raven!" And I thought to myself, "Self, you have a lot to write, so let's keep this under... say... 300 words? Can we do that?" Yeah, half an hour and 992 words later... *sigh*

    The lesson that we can take from this is: shiny new fandom + awesome friend = blowjobs

    Now this isn't just porn or anything. Really. It takes place two days after the end of A New Morning, although you don't have to read that to get this. But I like it being Part II of god-knows-how-many.

    Oh, and I'm posting this here because it's not beta'd. And has no title or anything. I guess I could give it one, but meh. I like calling it...

    While it's technically not today anymore, I just now had time to do this, so... Things that made me happy today!

    1. Waverly grabbing my face and saying, "Mama pretty," in a reverent sort of way. *awwwwwww*

    2. [info]hollycomb wrote the nicest in-depth comment about the gift fic that I wrote her and it made me tingle with joy! *smooches her silly*

    3. Awesome fic! I read Worst Day Ever by my lovely [info]lotus_lizzy (she has the routine down pat wherein if you want me to read something, you give me a link and say, "Hey! Read this! You know, if you have time...). And DAMN she is good! I'm going to hold her hostage and force her to write more surly!Albus.
    Also, I had been craving a bit of Harry/Ron (shut it, Bryoney) and [info]nolagal read my mind and provided me with two awesome recs from [info]bestmates_xmas! The Beard is silly and funny and adorable and has a delightful premise and a beautiful payoff. A Rare and Wonderous Gift is just that. Don't let the character death warning scare you off - trust me. It's not like you think. This is a happy ending that you'll have to squint to read through tears of joy.

    4. [info]bryoneybrynn's comment on my latest story for [info]the_ass_fest. Oh, how you make me laugh, darling girl.

    5. Helping [info]brixisxonfire with her fic for [info]hp_nextgen_fest. I'm a pretty crap mentor most days, but I think I did alright today. :D

    6. Talking to [info]bryoneybrynn for 20 minutes TOTAL and having her somehow manage in that time to convince me to write a 20K fic. Plus telling me what I'm going to write. Not saying what or where yet. Don't wanna jinx it. But yes, I signed up... *bites nails* But it's good being her bitch.

    6a. I totally convinced [info]lotus_lizzy to do the same thing! I AM SO BAD.

    7. [info]rules_of_jinx made me happy with her delightful comments and infectious enthusiasm! *bounces with her*

    Since I'm All Alone...
    And adrift on a sea of nothingness, I might as well pimp some more! Why not, am I right?

    Remember a long time ago when I started rambling about gay chicken? You do? Great! If you don't, no worries. I think I might have been drunk at the time. But anyway, I said I was going to write a gay chicken fic. And I bet some of you thought I forgot, didn't you? DIDN'T YOU???

    I didn't. I just wrote it eons ago for [info]the_ass_fest and it just dropped today!!! Go read Gay Chicken! And then if you weren't around for the original drunken(?) ramblings, then you can share the joy.

    Ya'll know about my obsession with [info]hogwartsishome, right? Well, they do stamping over there, where you can get stamped as a character and then stamped as other stuffs and whatnot. I did the character stamping and got stamped as Scorpius Malfoy - how rad is that, btw? It wasn't even an option at the time. I think some enterprising HiHers were stalking my journal. Holy shit. I'm having mad deja vu. I think I might have mentioned this already. Well, whatever. That wasn't my point, anyway. My point is that I did a hybrid house stamping thing and I was like, well I got sorted Slytherin after expecting Ravenclaw. I'm pretty sure I'll get Slytherclaw. NOPE. Slytherdor. MMhm. I'm starting to think that the HiHers do not respect my large, squishy brain.

    Anyhow, my long and rambling point is that the Gryffindor probably explains my rampant ABUSE OF CAPSLOCK!!!!! Because apparently that's a LOOK-AT-ME thing to do, which is very Gryffindor.

    Hm... I'm starting to see how this makes sense. Why is it that I need [info]hogwartsishome to give me insight into myself? Should I be worried about this? *ponders*

    So me in a nutshell seems to be LOOK AT ME!!!!!! I'M A BITCH ON WHEELS!!!!!!! WHEEEEEE! Interesting.

    I just remembered that I'm supposed to do eight things. Hm. I did six if you count my edit, so I need two more.

    7. I'm talking to Bri on IM and she's making fudge, so I'm getting vicarious fudge thrills even though I've given it up for the [info]10lbchallenge.

    8. [info]lotus_lizzy also always mistypes *big hugs* as *bug hugs*. I thought maybe it was just me. I feel better about life.

    9. Look, I thought of more! My new friend [info]ringohavabanana wrote an awesome Drake/Josh drabble that puts all other drabbles to shame. It's Holding.

    And for anyone who's getting secretly pissy with me, I'm not abandoning HP for D&J. Promise. It's just... New shiny fandom! *grabby hands*

    It's Here!
    Okay, I just posted the Drake and Josh fic over at [info]ficbycam. Now if you're curious, but haven't watched any Drake and Josh, I think you'll still be okay. The only thing that you have to know is that Drake and Josh are stepbrothers who have sexual tension out the wazoo. Drake is a manslut who kisses every hot girl who wanders into his line of vision. I believe that this is merely a coping mechanism for his very, very, very gay lust for his stepbrother, because the only other option is to think that he's a sexist pig, and that would be less fun to write. Drake is also something of a budding rockstar. Josh is a bit of a dork who used to be chubby and is now a babe. (Not that fat people can't be hot – because HELLO? I am widely considered to be hot; by my husband anyway – but you know what I mean.) Josh works at a movie theater called the Premiere and dates a girl named Mindy who is HIS coping mechanism for his very, very, very gay lust for his stepbrother.

    There are a few other characters mentioned, but this is not a fic about the D&J universe. It should be pretty easy to understand even if you've never even heard about the show.

    This story was SUPPOSED to be funny, and I think it kind of is, in places, but it ended up being more about how very, very different Drake and Josh are. After an event (which I won't spoil for you) Josh obsesses for the better part of a month, fretting, second-guessing, and hyperventilating. Drake puts it from his mind and goes about his daily life. As things progress, Josh continues to dither and panic, while Drake (for the most part) takes things in stride.

    I believe this to be very indicative of the characters as they're portrayed on the show. In every single D/J fic that I have personally read (I won't say all, but literally every single one that *I* have read) wherein there is sex, Josh tops. I agree that he is the more eager puppy of the two, and also the one less likely to hold onto the last vestiges of his homosexuality. However, in my mind, this makes Josh more likely to BOTTOM.

    It is a children's show, so obviously it's not mentioned whether the boys are sexually active. However, I would argue that canon pretty much tells us that Drake is and Josh isn't. Drake, being the one experienced with giving penetrative sex, seems the logical choice to top the first time. Drake would be the one who would understand the mechanics. I'm not saying that this means Josh ALWAYS bottoms, or that Drake wouldn't want to have ago, because being a manslut probably indicates that he's open-minded. I'm just saying, that I think, based on canon, that there is NO WAY that the first time they have sex, Josh is topping.

    People in the fandom can cry bossy bottom all they like, but Drake Parker is no fanon!Draco Malfoy. I refuse to buy what the fandom is trying to sell. Drake is a guy who takes and Josh is a guy who gives. It's canon. And we all know what taking and giving can be code for.

    I've given this a lot more thought than I probably should have. However, when I first started reading in the D/J fandom, I went into it expecting to find Josh as the bottom. When I didn't, I got confused, later dismayed, and finally inspired. This is the result. I hope you enjoy.
